Age Concern Colchester offers the following services to schools:
Key Stage 2
Getting Older* – a 10/15 minute presentation which is suitable for a School Assembly and helps children in their respect for older people.
Who’s Sorry Now ?* – suitable for PHSE/Citizenship Programme. This 25/30 minute programme consists of an introduction on ‘being old’. This is followed by the video ‘Who’s Sorry Now ?’ (produced by Age Concern Barrow) which looks at the fears of older people at Halloween and Bonfire Night. The session concludes with a discussion on the main themes of the video.

Managing on a Pension – a PowerPoint presentation which looks at the work of Age Concern Colchester and the services we provide. This is followed by a class activity where students are invited to complete a sheet to see if they can manage on a pension. General discussion follows regarding priorities when you have a small income. Duration 45/60 minutes.
* Programme content is adapted to meet the abilities and ages of the children involved.
